Perryville Girl Scout Lucy Allen installed 50 birdhouses across Perryville’s parks as part of her Gold Award project. The Gold Award is the highest honor a Girl Scout can achieve and requires a minimum of 80 hours of independent work. Allen said she decided to build birdhouses because they provide safe nesting places for bluebirds and other species of birds, while also supporting the local ecosystem by encouraging natural pest control and seed dispersal.
