The Perry County Solid Waste Board has announced an adjustment to service rates at the Perry County Transfer Station, effective Jan. 1.
According to the board, the rate changes became necessary after bids were opened Nov. 13 for waste hauling and disposal services, which revealed significant cost increases in both areas.
Beginning in 2026, the following rates will apply:
• $71 per ton for all solid waste
• $15 flat rate for all loads weighing 250 pounds or less
• $112 per ton for non-Perry County residents, with a $50 minimum charge
The Perry County Transfer Station serves residential, commercial and municipal customers by providing a centralized location for the disposal of solid waste generated within the county. The adjustments were unanimously approved by the Perry County Solid Waste Board following a review of operational costs and future budget needs.
To secure the most cost-effective long-term solution for county customers, the board conducted a competitive bidding process for waste hauling and disposal services. As a result, Perry County has entered into new three-year contracts with Rollet Bros. Trucking for waste hauling and Waste Management of Illinois for waste disposal.
“The board remains committed to providing reliable, safe and environmentally responsible solid waste services,” the board stated. “These rate changes reflect the increasing costs associated with transporting and disposing of waste while ensuring the transfer station continues to operate efficiently for the residents of Perry County.”
