Trout season officially opened Sunday, Feb. 1, at Legion Lake, drawing anglers to the popular fishing spot located in Veterans Memorial Park.
Perry County and the Perry County Sportsman Club once again partnered to ensure Legion Lake was properly stocked ahead of opening day, continuing a long-standing tradition of providing quality outdoor recreation opportunities for residents and visitors. MDC personnel stocked the lake on Nov. 1.
Anglers were urged to use caution while fishing, as cold temperatures and recent snowfall created slick conditions along the lake banks. Officials also recommended proper footwear and awareness of surroundings to help prevent accidents.
All anglers were reminded to follow Missouri Department of Conservation regulations, including catch limits, approved fishing methods, and licensing requirements on the Missouri Department of Conservation website at https://mdc.mo.gov.
