The Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to a crash late Friday night July 10 in which one person was killed.
According to a report released by the Highway Patrol, the crash occurred on Interstate 55 when a 2025 Volvo tractor-trailer traveling southbound collided with a 2011 Nissan Murano that was stopped in the right lane.
The truck went off the road and came to rest on the right shoulder of the interstate.
The Nissan was heavily damaged and came to rest in the grass next to the road.
A passenger in the Nissan, a St. Louis man aged 65, was pronounced dead at 11:34 by Dr. Scott Landry at Mercy Hospital Perry in Perryville, while the driver was taken to St. Francis Medical Center with serious injuries.
No injuries to the driver of the truck were reported.
