Song and dance

To the editor:

I see Jason Smith is still singing and dancing for Supreme Leader. Every week District 8’s Congressman picks up some musical instrument and plays from the same stale playlist. Sometimes he blows a trumpet for his hero, others he bows a violin for sympathy or bangs the drum to a marching beat. Always predictable, though. “Trump is awesome. I am awesome. Republicans are awesome. Democrats are evil, lazy, and incompetent. Stupid people love it when I tell them what to think.”

Last week’s (April 30th) diatribe-peppered pompous ramble gaslit us about Medicare fraud. Yeah, Medicare fraud is happening. But look at where they are focusing— California, Minnesota, New York, Maine — all Blue States. And Florida, a Red State. But dig deeper and you’ll discover that it’s actually the Cuban government that’s being accused, without evidence mind you, of defrauding Medicare in Florida by running a network of durable medical equipment through shell companies there.

It’s political weaponization, Jason Smith. And you’re holding a smoking gun.

“We are enforcing a zero-tolerance policy for criminals who defraud American taxpayers,” said First Assistant US Attorney Bill Essayli. Great work. But why stop at criminals? Widen the circle to politicians. Like the one in the White House who tells his family and wealthy friends he’s changing policies so they can invest heavily the day before the stock market surges. Yeah, it’s happened. More than once. During this month alone those insiders profited over $420 million.

Or when the same guy in the White House informs his wealthy friends and family that he’s going to pause tariffs—clearly that’s illegal market manipulation and insider trading. Yeah, it happened. More than once. It’s called securities fraud, a felony, punishable by up to 20-years in federal prison. The latest episode of shared profits amounted to over $40 billion, $415 million went into Trump’s pocket. Will anyone be prosecuted for that, Jason Smith?

And then comes the Big Lie (Jason Smith always gives us one or two in his propaganda pieces). “Unlike Democrat politicians across the country, President Trump is not turning a blind eye to fraud.”

Really? A blind eye? Just a moment or two of research reveals that Democrats do address Medicare fraud. Their approach often differs in focus from that of Republicans. Democrats primarily focus on systemic reforms and cracking down on abuses within private insurance programs like Medicare Advantage, whereas Republicans frequently emphasize eligibility audits and individual-level fraud in—wait for it—Democratic-led states.

Oh, Jason Smith. How convenient that you forgot to mention that your hero pardoned the executive behind the largest healthcare fraud scheme in history ($1.3 billion). Philip Esformes. And where did the fraud occur? Florida. And he did this while Congressional Republicans gutted over $1 trillion From American healthcare.

Then we have DHS Secretary RFK, Jr. and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Dr. Oz reinstating 850 insurance agents and brokers who were suspended by the Biden Administration for suspected fraud.

Jason Smith, you’re not a serious person.
