Craig Buchheit stopped by the Republic-Monitor office Monday with a photo (above) showing him perched atop the Sabreliner Corporation sign following the failure of Perry County’s Bois Brûlé Levee on July 25, 1993 — 32 years ago tomorrow. According to a Republic-Monitor retrospective of the breach, floodwaters in the Bois Bottom area rose to depths of 10 to 20 feet, submerging some homes up to their second-floor windows.
