The Perry County Sheriff’s Office is investigating multiple cases of stolen vehicles and thefts from vehicles reported in recent days. Officials are urging motorists to take extra steps to safeguard their property.
Recommended precautions include:
■ Remove keys, firearms and other valuables from your vehicle.
■ Lock your doors every time you park, even at home.
■ Choose well-lit parking areas whenever possible. According to the sheriff’s office, many of these crimes are crimes of opportunity and can often be avoided when drivers take simple preventive measures.
“Please help us by protecting yourself, your belongings and the community,” the office said in a statement.
