Wade Elder, owner of Elder’s Barber Shop in Perryville, puts the finishing touches on a beard trim and Mohawk for City Administrator Brent Buerck before the April 15 Perryville Board of Aldermen meeting at city hall. It marked the conclusion of a whimsical fundraiser called Bucks 4 Beards to raise money for the Tornado Relief Fund. Buerck agreed to receive a shave in one of three styles — the Monkey Tail, Batman, or Mohawk, depending on how much cash was donated. According to Perryville Public Works Director Jeff Layton, there was a 50-50 match by the Perryville Development Corporation of up to $25,000. The beard votes totaled $10,763.18, bringing the grand total raised for the tornado relief fund, with additional miscellaneous donations, to $30,193.18.
