The family of the late Hubert and Rita Richardet established a scholarship to commemorate the efforts of their parents, Hubert and Rita Richardet with local Perry County residents with special needs between 1980 and 2000.
The scholarship is to be awarded to a graduate of both Perryville High School and St. Vincent High School who plan to work with those people with special needs, in the areas of teaching, social work, or nursing.
The Richardet family members include Kathy (Richardet) Ploeger, Brenda (Richardet Buonasera, Bill Richardet, Steve Richardet, Dave Richardet, Mike, Richardet, Jeff Richardet, and Hubert Richardet Jr.
The recipients of the scholarship were Miss Ayla Schuler of Perryville High School and Mr. Eli Abernathy of St. Vincent High School. Presenting the award was Hubert and Rita’s son, Jeff Richardet.
