An unprecedented run did in Perryville on Friday night.
Perryville kept up with Scott City for much of the first half, but the second half was a different story as Scott City turned up the pressure and ran away, handing the Pirates a 74-49 defeat at Perryville High School.
Perryville hung with a 17-win Rams team and had the lead in the second quarter after a pair of three-pointers by Jake Cissell and Waylon Huber to take a 21-19 advantage. Huber scored in the final minute of the first half to give Perryville the 28-26 lead going into halftime.
Even in the beginning of the second half, Perryville got a three from Huber and scored the first five points of the third quarter to go up 33-26.
However, from there it was all Scott City as the Rams went into a full court press and turned the Pirates over multiple times, converting them into baskets.

The Rams used the press and relentless pressure to go on a 30+0 run in the third quarter. Perryville didn’t score for the final 7 minutes of the quarter and the Pirates went down 56-33 going into the fourth quarter.
Perryville was led by both Jake Cissell and Waylon Huber, who both scored 15 points for the Pirates. Cissell scored entirely from the three-point line, making five baskets including three in the fourth quarter. In the game, Perryville broke the record for the three-pointers made in a season by a team at 143.
Kobe Watson led the Rams with 19 points. Jackson Gloth added 14 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Kaden Lowery chipped in 11 points with eight rebounds. Mark Panagos led the way on defense with six steals.
The Rams found a home on the free-throw line, as they shot 25-of-30.
The Pirates (2-20) will travel to Hillsboro on Friday.
