Pirates earn postseason honors

The Perryville Pirate basketball programs were well represented for postseason honors.
The girls program had three players make the JCAA All-Conference team, while the boys had two.
The girls were led by a pair of first team selections as Brooklyn Moll and Abygail Amberger earned a spot and Janie Porter was named an honorable mention.
Moll led the Pirates on and off the court this season and led them to the most wins in several years (18). That total surpasses the 16 wins in 2023 and 2019.
Moll was the leading scorer averaging about 17 points per game and was frequently leading the box score on any given night.
If Moll had a second in command, it would probably have been Amberger. The one-two combination helped the Pirates to a 6-2 conference record, with both losses coming to champion Hillsboro.

Porter was just a freshman, but added stability in running the offense from the point guard position. Porter was out at the end of the season after a knee injury.
The Pirates went 18-9 this past season.
The boys were led by Jake Cissell and Karston Schilli, who both were named honorable mention.
Cissell was the leading scorer for the Pirates and was deadly from behind the three-point line . Cissell set the single-season, and career marks for three-pointers made this past winter. Cissell made 90 three-pointers and set a new career mark, surpassing a 30-year school record.
Schilli and Cissell also helped the Pirates set a new team mark with 165 three-pointers this season, also a school record.
Perryville ended the season with a 2-24 record and returns every player for next season.
