Pirate boys finish second, SV boys third at Perryville Invitational

The Perryville and St. Vincent boys cross country teams had possibly their best performances as a whole on their home soil.
The Perryville boys finished second and St. Vincent boys finished third at the Perryville Invitational Sept. 27 in the City Park. Oak Ridge won the meet with 37 points, as Perryville followed with 68 and St. Vincent had 101.
Perryville was led by four runners in the top-20 with Bair Hopkins leading the way with a fourth-place finish overall. Hopkins finished the race with a time of 18 minutes, 39.28 seconds.
Porter and Preston Hoeckele finished back-to-back in 10th and 11th place respectively. Porter finished with a time of 19:06.27, while Preston finished 19:09.94.
Micah Brown finished 18th overall with a time of 19:39.61.
Clayton Bauwens and Mason Zoellner finished 26th and 28th respectively with time of 20:21.71 and 20:41.92.

For St. Vincent, Jackson Unterreiner finished second overall with a time of 18:22.12, nearly one minute behind Nicholas Daugherty Jr. of Windsor.
The Indians had four runners inside the top 25 as Ethan Hotop finished 20th and Braden Pech finished 21st with times of 19:54.86 and 20:03.05 respectively. Dane Kline finished 24th overall with a time of 20:08.89 and Ethan Buerck finished with a time of 21:14.15, good enough for 38th overall.
The Saxony Lutheran boys finished seventh overall and was led by Jesse Schupp’s time of 20:06.25 and Seth Mueller finished 32nd with a time of 20:54.77.
On the girls side, Perryville senior Tegan Bishop finished first overall with a time of 20:26.85. Bishop finished more than one minute faster than the second-place runner Emerson Selsor.
Alexa Hagan finished 14th overall with a time of 25:38.14 and Olivia Iffert followed with a time of 27:14.94, good enough for 26th overall. Gwynivere Newbrough finished 28th with a time of 27:25.26.
For St. Vincent, Abby Kirn, finished with a time of 25:06.36, good enough for a top-10 finish. Gabrielle Gremaud finished 23rd with a time of 27:00.79 and Jocelyn Weibrecht and Sybella Nations finished 37th and 38th overall with times of 30:17.64 and 30:21.81.
For Saxony, Myra Roth finished with a time of 23:53.55, good enough for 5th overall on the day.
