Fourteen Perryville High School seniors were presented the prestigious Glory of Missouri Awards during Senior Day celebrations held last month.

The award was established to recognize students who exemplify the 14 virtues carved into the walls of the House of Representatives chambers at the Missouri State Capitol in Jefferson City sometime during the 1920s.

The virtues are Knowledge, Liberty, Equality, Law, Justice, Fraternity, Education, Progress, Honor, Truth, Virtue, Temperance, Enterprise, and Charity. They are accompanied by the inscription: “All the foregoing human qualities bind into one theme, the Glory of Missouri, because no people attain these virtues unless they are great.”

Every Missouri representative is expected to represent the 14 virtues.

The PHS students and the virtues they embody are: Bair Hopkins, Knowledge; Morgan Hahs, Liberty; Blake Bodendieck, Equality; Hallie Figge, Law; Taylor Ebersohl, Justice; Gregary Bartusch, Fraternity; Chamberlain Chapman, Education; Maliki Logan, Progress; Xavier Pfaff, Honor; Kara Williams, Truth; Zachary Crowder, Virtue; Wyatt Duncan, Temperance; Kaleb Huber, Enterprise; and Josephine Lohmann, Charity.
