The Perryville volleyball team won the championship of the Woodland Invitational Tournament on Friday in a four set victory over Leopold 19 ‑ 25, 25 ‑ 17, 26 ‑ 24, 26 ‑ 24. The Pirates defeated Woodland in the semifinals and Greenville in the opening round to claim the championship. Elise Lauck, Ana Moll and McKenna McClure were named to the all-tournament team.
“It was a hard fought four sets against Leopold filled with a lot of holes we had to dig ourselves out of” Coach Liz Meyr said. “I couldn’t be more proud of the girls. They could have given up but they fought for every point and earned that first place plaque.”
