Two people were hurt in a Perry County coal mine accident on the evening of Monday, July 14.
The incident took place at the Knight Hawk Prairie Eagle Coal Mine just off IL-154 at the Perry/Randolph County line. Two people were transported from the scene to a regional hospital by helicopter. No other injuries had been reported by Tuesday’s deadline.
Ambulance crews confirmed they had no additional transports from the scene.
Responding to the accident were the Pinckneyville Fire Department, Pinckneyville Ambulance Service, Perry County Sheriff’s Office, Air Evac Lifeteam, and Washington County EMS.
