Perry County is proud to announce the installation of 100 patriotic American flag displays surrounding the perimeter of the historic Perry County Courthouse in celebration of the upcoming 250th birthday of the United States of America.
Additional flag displays are also featured at other county facilities, including the Perry County Joint Justice Center and the Perry County Administration Building, creating a unified patriotic tribute throughout county government properties.
The project is a collaborative funding and planning effort between Perry County and the Perry County Heritage Tourism Department, with the goal of honoring the nation’s history while encouraging community pride and civic engagement.
County officials say the displays are intended not only to commemorate America’s 250th birthday celebration, but also to create a lasting tradition in Perry County.
“This display is a way for our community to visibly celebrate our nation, honor those who have served our country, and foster civic pride for generations to come,” Presiding Commissioner Mike Sauer said. “The American flag is a symbol that unites us all, and we are proud to showcase it throughout our public spaces.”
In the future, Perry County leaders intend to continue utilizing the flag displays during significant patriotic observances such as Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Veterans Day. The displays are also planned for use on Election Days as a reminder to residents to participate in the democratic process and cast their ballots.
In the coming weeks, flags will remain installed the first week in June, then will return for Independence Day celebrations in July, then back again in August for Election Day.
Residents and visitors are encouraged to stop by the historic courthouse square and county facilities to view and photograph the displays throughout the America 250 celebration period.
