Patton roundabout reduced for concrete work

SIKESTON — The roundabout at the intersection of Route 51 and Route 72 in Patton will be reduced with a 10-foot width restriction and 72-foot length restriction for concrete work.

During the project, a 6-foot truck apron will be added to the roundabout. A truck apron is a raised section of pavement around the central island of a roundabout.

A truck apron is a raised section of pavement around the central island of a roundabout. It helps accommodate large vehicles such as school buses, semitrailers and farm equipment. The apron allows the rear wheels of oversized vehicles to ride up slightly as they circle the roundabout, improving maneuverability.

Weather permitting, work will take place Monday, March 2, through Monday, March 16, from 4 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. The work zone will remain in place 24 hours a day.

The area will be marked with signs. Motorists are urged to use extreme caution while traveling near the work zone.
