Missouri’s National Veterans Memorial is preparing to honor fallen heroes. Since the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall was erected, visitors have left tributes and mementos along America’s Wall. These items are collected weekly and stored.
All items will be displayed in the Welcome Center during Memorial Day weekend for visitors to see. The Welcome Center and Military Museum are open seven days a week from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., while all outdoor monuments and campus grounds are accessible 24/7.
There will not be a formal ceremony at MNVM on Memorial Day, May 26.
In Perryville, there stands an exact replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. America’s Wall is connected to the land and nestled in America’s heartland, where it transcends generations. It offers a respite from traffic and distractions, allowing visitors to fully immerse themselves in a calming and peaceful environment to remember, honor, and reflect.
The Honor Flag Memorial is also present, featuring a large, concave structure that stretches 49 feet along the western edge of the Welcome Center. Each granite section honors America’s conflicts and military branches with laser-etched illustrations and typography.
Under the pavilion adjacent to the Welcome Center, you’ll find the Guardians of Freedom monument, which serves as a testament and tribute to the contributions of each military branch to America as a free society.
The memorial’s design showcases the military seals of the United States Marine Corps, Army, Navy, Air Force, and Coast Guard.
