Mayfest, sponsored by the Perryville Chamber of Commerce, is returning for its 40th year of providing family fun for all ages around the courthouse square in downtown Perryville.
The Mayfest Carnival opened from 6 to 11 p.m. Wednesday and continues its discount armband night on Thursday from 6 to 11 p.m.
It’s Friday night when Mayfest goes into full throttle! The festival district streets close at 4 p.m., food and drink stands open at 5 p.m., and the Mayfest Carnival operates until 11 p.m., featuring the last armband discount of the year.
At 6 p.m., the Mayfest Parade begins, and this year, it’s featuring a blast from the past!
“We’re thrilled to announce the return of the Grand Marshal for Perryville Mayfest — something we haven’t had in several years!” said chamber Executive Director Renee Lottes.
“This year, a thoughtful community member suggested honoring the employees of Citizens Electric Corporation as our Grand Marshal. We couldn’t agree more. These dedicated individuals do so much more than keep the lights on — they put their lives on hold whenever there’s an issue, showing up no matter the day, time, or occasion. Whether it’s a holiday or a family celebration, they answer the call to keep our community running smoothly.
“This past year has been especially challenging for both our community and the Citizens Electric team. During the devastating ice storm and tornado, their crews worked around the clock with relentless determination and selfless dedication. Their efforts made a lasting impact, and we want to take this opportunity to say ‘thank you’ in a big way.
"When we presented this idea to the Mayfest Committee, the response was unanimous: a resounding, 'yes!' It felt like the perfect way to honor their tireless work and demonstrate how much their sacrifices mean to all of us.
"We reached out to Citizens Electric, and they humbly accepted. We are beyond excited to have them lead our parade on Friday! Please join us, line the streets, and cheer them on as we celebrate and thank them for all they’ve done — and continue to do — for Perryville.”
Also on Friday night, Champagne Fixx performs on the Downtown Plaza Stage at 7 p.m.
Saturday is an all-day event featuring the Mayfest 5K in City Park and the Mayfest Art Show, hosted by the Perry County Senior Center, starting at 8 a.m. At 9 a.m., the Craft Fair, Plant Sale, HiWay Rodders Car Show, and Tractor Show return for another year. At 9:30 p.m., live music will be performed by Umbra at the Courthouse Gazebo, and food and drink stands will open at 10:30 a.m.
At noon, live music will be offered by Still Standing on the Downtown Plaza Stage. At 1 p.m., the carnival opens, and the day concludes with live music by Well Hungarians on the Downtown Plaza Stage.
The chamber thanks this year’s sponsors: Rolley Bros. Trucking Inc., Robinson Companies, Circle Fiber, TG Missouri, The Cottage, River Radio, Perry County Towing, Mercy, Jay’s Firewood and Mulch, Baer Engineering, and Hayden Creative.
