A 47-year-old man, John D. Perry, residence unknown, is in custody and facing felony charges of burglary and domestic assault stemming from a March 31 incident in which he allegedly knowingly entered a residence at 12065 Highway A in Altenburg and remained on the property unlawfully and caused physical to an individual.
According to a probable cause statement, at approximately 10:55 p.m. on March 31, Perry County Communications received a 911 call from an individual in Altenburg reporting an alleged domestic assault.
The individual reporting having lost blood and being thrown around the home. Upon arrival, at approximately 11:18 p.m., the responding law enforcement officer observed a blood trail coming from the front of the house and leading to a gravel lot to the right of the house near two parked vehicles.
Perry was not in the vicinity or in either of the vehicles, according to the law enforcement official. The individual who reported the incident to the Sheriff’s Office told the responding officer an attempt was made to confront Perry about a personal matter. The individual kicked Perry about of the home and the defendant left.
Just prior to calling 911, the individual reported Perry climbed into the upstairs bedroom. A verbal altercation ensued which led downstairs and it eventually became physical. The defendant allegedly threw the individual over a coffee table and into a couch and then threw the individual over a glass coffee table.
