Senior Ellie Kratochvil of Saxony Lutheran High School has been selected for the 2024 Missouri Scholars 100, a statewide program that honors 100 of Missouri’s top academic students in the graduating class of 2024. The announcement was made by Mark Ruark, principal of Saxony Lutheran High School. Principal Mark Ruark reports that “Ellie is a special student who certainly deserves to be recognized as a Missouri Top 100 Scholar. It is the highest academic recognition given in the state of Missouri. We are proud of her achievements and how she represents Saxony Lutheran High School.”
Missouri Scholars 100 is a program sponsored by the Missouri Association of Secondary School Principals. Schools across Missouri were invited to nominate candidates for this statewide recognition. The selection is based primarily on a formula using the student’s grade point average and ACT or SAT score. Each student nominated had first to meet the criteria of an “Academic Decathlon,” which included ten “events” designed to assure the academic strength of the student. The student must have a minimum GPA of 3.750, a minimum ACT score of 29 or a minimum SAT score of 1,600, be ranked in the upper ten percent of the class and have taken high-level courses in mathematics, science, English, and foreign language. The student must also have excellent attendance, be an exemplary school citizen, and be involved in the school activity program. Ellie will be recognized on Sunday, April 21, 2024, at a luncheon in Columbia.

While attending Saxony, Ellie has participated in cheerleading, Student Council, National Honor Society, Beta Club, Ambassador, Pep Club, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Ellie will be attending Auburn University in the fall and plans to pursue the pre-med track.
Ellie is the daughter of Jerry and Cheryl Kratochvil of Cape Girardeau.
