It’s time to ‘man up’ and find real solutions

The old codger may have mentioned before that he was Catholic. Hey, don’t hold that against me. We, as I think all Christians are, are taught to love one another, all our fellow human beings, and His magnificent, irreplaceable creation. Hey, he didn’t and doesn’t mess up. That even includes platypus ducks, wombats and Episcopalians.

So who the heck is it that’s trying to tell us we ought to be putting people in camps, punishing them for speaking up and out, bombing ‘em back to the stone ages and hating them for their religion or the color of their skin? Making enemies out of Denmark, Canada, Spain and Italy? Come on! Talk about your derangement syndrome.

The old guy’s talked before about the benefit of us actually working together in the form of a polity. If we want to actually be part of this amazing experiment in democracy instead of just chasing shiny objects like a crazed feline chasing a laser pointer in the grasp of a goofy thirteen year old.

Greenland, Venezuela, Haitians, Iran, Socialists, Communists, Gays and Trans, what are there twelve of ‘em? Look there, caravans of immigrants, crazed Hispanic rapists, overweight, woke, welfare queens getting abortions in their thirteenth month. OMG! My old ticker can’t take it. Where’s my AR-15?

Maybe we ought to take away the laser pointer, turn off the talking point spouting talking heads and putrid AI meme purveyors and just focus as humanity loving, informed and caring citizens of the most powerful, richest nation the world has ever known on our very real and incredibly difficult problems and potential realistic solutions for them.

Are we hearing the truth or any interest in telling it from our current purported leaders?

Do they really even appear to give a royal rat’s wahoo about the huge problems we all share as a nation and as a world?

Problems like stagnating public education threatening our economy and yep, our very political system, the systemic and intentional ignoring of climate change, realistic immigration reform, the growing climate, corruption and greed related political instability of a growing percentage of the world’s states and populations, a decades long and now avalanching inequity of income between our richest and poorest citizens, unaffordable health care and housing, a rapidly eroding if not totally dysfunctional dissemination of the necessary public information for our citizens to make informed political and even health care decisions. Increasingly systemic and politicized monopolization in our economic and information sectors, an increasingly politicized and delayed Justice dispensation system, particularly at the federal level.

Unfortunately, I could pretty much go on forever, but I ain’t getting any younger, so let’s just stop and look at real solutions.

If we consider ourselves adults and citizens who care about our faith, our nation and our world, we are a functioning polity, so let’s:

Vote to get public servants  who really want to fix things, rather than get rich or suck up.

Prosecute the heck out of any of the scum who care more about getting rich or sucking up than working for us.

Put out of business any and all talking heads or supposed politicians who insist on continuing to spew garbage and wave shiny objects at us.

Commit to sit down with anyone locally, nationally or internationally who’s willing to look at solutions to what are in large part international problems.

Reform our laws to make it impossible for the rich and/or corrupt to ever attain the kind of power that’s threatening our very existence as human beings at this minute.

Folks, as Paul said and Gene Autry sang, it’s time to put away childish things and stop taking part in silly and destructive “Reindeer Games.”

A whole lot of people and potentially a whole planet is dying. This ain’t a game and we’re not kids. Whatever our testosterone level, it’s time to “man up.”
