INDEPENDENT REVIEW IMPERATIVE

Posted

Dear Editor

I am writing in regard to the dueling articles that recently appeared in our Republic-Monitor. I feel there is a pressing concern regarding the Perry County Memorial Hospital board’s transition to Mercy and allegations of conflicts of interest.

There is a noticeable and growing unease within the community, particularly concerning potential conflicts of interest related to the board’s decisions and the Mercy transition. This perception is unfortunate but can erode public confidence in the process and the future stewardship of our hospital.

To address these concerns and safeguard public trust, I believe an independent review is imperative. Its aim would be to establish clarity, review all facts, and ensure unwavering transparency and accountability, rather than to assign blame. Our community deserves complete assurance that its hospital’s future is being managed with fairness and solely in its best interest.

Sincerely,

Joe D. Hutchison, D.D.S., hospital trustee
