Frances C. Lakenan, 96, of Perryville, Missouri passed away Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at Independence Care Center of Perry County.
She was born February 4, 1927 in McBride, MO to Roman William and Clara Agatha (Bohnert) Ponder.
Frances and James Meredith Lakenan Jr. were married June 14, 1947 at Church of the Assumption, Perryville, MO. He preceded her in death on September 18, 1996.
Frances was a homemaker. She was a member of Christ the Savior Catholic Church in Brewer.
Frances loved to travel with her friends, gardening and sharing her flowers with many people in the community. She loved to paint and was a former member of the Perry County Art Guild.
Survivors include daughter, Barbara Hubick of Barnhart, MO; two sons, James “Jack” (Sandra) Lakenan III of Perryville, John (Heidi) Lakenan of Channahon, IL; sister, Gerlain Hall of Kansas City, MO; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; infant son; one granddaughter; two sisters, Theresa Ponder, Trula Moonier; one brother, Gildard Ponder.
Graveside service will be at 11:30 am on Saturday, June 17, 2023 at Home Cemetery in Perryville, MO with Fr. Clay Kilburn C.M. officiating.
Memorial contributions may be given to Charity of your Choice or Christ the Savior Catholic Church in Brewer, MO.
