Dorothy Marie (Schreiner) Siebert, 94, formerly of Jackson, went to be with Jesus on Saturday, Oct. 23, 2021, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Aug. 5, 1927, to Walter and Edna Ruppel Schreiner in Old Appleton. She and Harlan Alvin Siebert were married November 26, 1950. He survives.
Dorothy was raised on the family farm on Apple Creek near Old Appleton. As the oldest of three children, during her young years, Dorothy could usually be found in the fields, with her dad, doing farm work. As a young adult, she worked in St. Louis for a short time. Upon returning to Jackson, she worked many years at the Hosiery Mill and Coca Cola Bottling Co., both in Jackson. For 30 years, she and Harlan owned and operated Straightway Farm Service in Jackson. Eventually, Dorothy’s time was dedicated to managing the office at Straightway.
Dorothy was a faithful member of St Paul Lutheran church. In addition to her busy work life, she was active in many organizations including the VFW Auxiliary 10495, volunteering at the Veterans Home, putting out the Veteran flags at Brookside Memorial Park, and many other community activities and events. She was an avid bowler, winning High Game and High Series.
Dorothy and Harlan traveled extensively with Farm Bureau, and with many friends and family. They enjoyed dancing and being at other social events. Card playing was very high on their list of fun. Be it family or friends, the one rule that always applied was, “All love ceases at the card table”. Dorothy enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, doing word search puzzles, and attending estate auctions.

Loving survivors include her husband of nearly 71 years, Harlan Siebert; sisters-in-law, Lillian (the late Ray) Schreiner, Vera (the late Robert) Voges, brother-in-Law, Vernon (Pat) Siebert; nephews and nieces: Dennis (Joy) Siebert, Debbie (Bruce) Schnurbusch, Tom (Linda) Schreiner, Sharon (Larry) Tucker, Diana (Jim) Hobeck, Steve (Kathy) Siebert, Bonnie (Mike) Pierce, Carla (the late Tim) Clippard, and Lynn Schreiner, the wife of Dorothy’s late nephew, Doug Schreiner. She is also survived by many great and great-great nephews, nieces; and special friends, Steve and Judy Schneider and Rick and Dixie Grantham.
