The heart of downtown Perryville will twinkle with holiday magic this weekend as families and friends gather for Christmas on the Square, a hometown celebration filled with lights, laughter and the spirit of the season. Sponsored by Downtown Perryville Advancement, Inc., the free community event takes place Saturday, Dec. 6, on and around Perryville’s City Square. Festivities begin at 5 p.m. with Story Time with Mrs. Claus on the Downtown Plaza stage, followed by the much-anticipated lighted Christmas parade at 6 p.m. “Christmas on the Square is such a special event for our community,” said Crystal Jones, executive director of the Perry County Economic Development Authority. “It’s where the warmth of small-town spirit shines brightest. Everyone comes together to kick off the holiday season with joy and a sense of togetherness that makes Perryville so unique.”
SANTA AND THE GRINCH
Following the parade, Santa Claus himself will greet children in front of the Downtown Plaza stage, ready to hear last-minute wishes and pose for photos.
The festivities continue throughout the evening with treats and warm drinks served by Villainous Grounds, while a mischievous green visitor — The Grinch — will make a special appearance at The Warehouse.
Guests are encouraged to dress warmly and festively, as downtown Perryville transforms into a glowing winter wonderland. Parking will be available throughout the downtown area, and families are invited to stroll, mingle, and enjoy the holiday lights.
CHRISTMAS SPIRIT
The evening promises a little something for everyone — from the twinkle of the parade floats to the scent of cocoa in the air. Children can visit with Santa, families can enjoy the music and lights, and everyone can soak in the small-town charm that defines Perryville’s holiday season.
“Christmas on the Square is more than an event,” Jones said. “It’s a memory in the making — a time when neighbors, businesses, and families come together to celebrate what makes our community so special.”
