The Perryville Board of Aldermen made quick work of the latest agenda at the city council meeting on Dec. 5. In the consent agenda, the board approved a public hearing for the special use permit to construct a 10,640 square foot Dollar General Store at property located on the southeast side of Highway 61 and Sutterer Place on Dec. 19
“That will probably be a crowded meeting,” Alderman Seth Amschler said. “I just wanted to make sure that everyone brushes up on all the information so that we can answer questions and make an informed decision.”
In other news on the consent agenda, the Aldermen approved the Perryville Regional Airport Capital Improvement Plan for 2024-2033. The board also approved the 2024 Parks and Recreation fees schedules. They also approved a streetlight recommendation for the intersection of Sycamore Road and Trisha Street that found the area unusually dark and in need of a streetlight. But not in the case of 307 Huber Road. Lights here are appropriately spaced but privately-owned trees are blocking much of the light. It is recommended the homeowner address these concerns instead of placing a new streetlight there.

In other news, the board entered into a resolution for a financial reimbursement agreement for new construction to builder/homeowner with Gotto Investments, LLC. This is another application for the City’s Building Reimbursement Program. In this case, the builder is constructing a 1,300 square foot home with 4 bedrooms, 3 full bathrooms, with a 2-car garage. his is a new construction project and work has not yet begun. Due to the lot’s layout, two bedrooms will be upstairs and the other two downstairs with approved egress.
The Board approved an ordinance with the Missouri Department of Transportation and entering into a transportation enhancement funds program.
Staff had proposed the City submit two different applications for the upcoming Transportation Alternative Program which is designed as a partnership with MoDOT to help develop non-vehicular transportation projects throughout the State. The maps provide details of the proposed projects, one of which would extend the greenway to Edgemont and the second which would extend sidewalks along Star Street as the Board has previously requested. Staff worked closely with MoDOT representatives on these projects and are excited to see them move forward.
