Missouri voters should make certain that they are aware of the impacts of supporting Amendment 5. As a taxpayer, repealing the state income tax might initially seem appealing to you. But the state government needs revenue to function. So funding will come out of the ordinary man’s pocket one way or another. Amendment 5 asks taxpayers to relinquish their right to approve sales tax increases. The state legislature will be able to impose additional sales taxes on previously excluded goods and services and to increase the current rates as well. Only a few will benefit from this change. And most assuredly it will not be you or I. Vote NO on 5.
Amendment 4 wants citizens of Missouri to relinquish their right to initiate petitions. This would remove voters’ ability to bring forward their own amendments for public consideration. Let’s stand our ground! Don’t surrender the rights we currently have. NO on 4 and 5! Ronda Rowland Perryville
