The 125th annual St. Vincent De Paul Seminary Picnic will take place this weekend, July 31-August 1.
The grounds first open Friday evening at 6 p.m. and will be open until 11 p.m. Friday will feature live entertainment by Johnny Holzum and Well Hungarians from 7 until 11, and Umbra, an acoustic classic rock duo, from 7 to 11. Friday will also feature handmade quilt bingo from 7 until 9.
Saturday will be the longest day of festivities, with grounds opening at 1 p.m and closing at 11 p.m. Live entertainment will be provided by the Waterloo German Band, a traditional German musical group based in Waterloo, Illinois, that has been preserving and playing authentic German music since 1939, from 3:30 to 6:30 and country musician Ian Ferguson from 7 to 11. Handmade quilt bingo will be from 4 until 10.
The picnic’s final day will be Sunday, when grounds are open from 11 a.m to 8 p.m. Sunday will feature a craft fair, as well as live entertainment from the Sammy Hadle Band, a 1970s and 80s rock cover band, from 3 until 7, and Him & Her, an acoustic husband and wife duo, from 1 until 7. Handmade quilt bingo will be from 1 until 7.

Carnival rides, including a historic wooden carousel built in 1905 that is one of only five of its kind still operating, and games for the whole family to enjoy will be a part of the picnic all weekend.
Sunday night at 7:30, the winners of the annual car raffle by the St. Vincent Educational Foundation and Keller Motors will be announced. Additional cash prizes will be awarded as well. Raffle tickets can be found both online and at the picnic throughout the weekend.
Both Saturday and Sunday will feature an all-you-can eat buffet. Dining hours are from 3 p.m until 7 p.m Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m until 5 p.m. buffet tickets are $15 for adults and $6 for children 12 and younger. Other food stands will be available throughout the picnic as well, featuring hamburgers, pork burgers, fish, bbq, and home made ice cream. For more information, visit www.seminarypicnic.org.
