Woman faces multiple felonies in connection with Feb. 2 carjacking

Individual awaiting extradition to Perry County after stealing vehicle, fleeing to Arkansas

On Wednesday, Feb. 2 at approximately 4:26 p.m., the Perry County Sheriff's Office received a report of an accident on I-55 at the 132 mile marker, northbound side. Before law enforcement arrived at the scene, 37 year old Stephanie Moll, of Perryville, came across the accident and saw what were believed to be two black males, in their early to mid-20s, standing next to the accident with an approximately 2 year old child. She pulled over to offer assistance.
As Moll was placing the 2 year old into the back seat of her vehicle, to get her out of the inclement weather, the individuals got into the front seat of her vehicle, a 2020 Toyota RAV 4, and drove off with Moll still partially in the rear of the vehicle. Moll sustained an injury to her right leg as her vehicle was being stolen and was later taken by ambulance to Perry County Memorial Hospital.
The vehicle the two suspects wrecked was a 2013 Nissan Sentra, reportedly stolen from Memphis, Tennessee Jan. 20.
Upon arrival, Deputies found Moll at the scene and she explained what had just taken place. Ste. Genevieve County the Missouri State Highway Patrol were notified of the stolen vehicle, and it was seen in Ste. Genevieve County. The officer tried to catch up to the vehicle, and followed it all the was up to I-270, but it got lost in that area.

As of Thursday, Feb. 3, shortly before 10:30 a.m., the stolen RAV 4 reported earlier has been recovered in Mississippi County, Ark.

“We are working with them to identify the suspects who stole the vehicle in Perry County yesterday,” Perry County Sheriff Gary Schaaf in a press release.

A warrant has been issued for 22-year-old Victoria Smith, of Memphis, Tenn., with Class A Felony Vehicle Hijacking, Class D Felony Assault 2nd Degree, Class D Felony Endangering the Welfare of a Child, and Class D Felony Receiving Stolen Property for her part in the carjacking which occurred on I-55 Feb. 2, at the 132 mile marker.
At this time, Smith is being held in Arkansas awaiting extradition to Perry County. There is no bond allowed on this warrant at this time.
“We will soon be seeking similar warrants on the other person involved in the incident, who is not in custody at this time,” Schaaf said in a press release.
