William Melvin James Stortz, 68, of Perryville, passed away Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at Perry County Memorial Hospital.
He was born April 6, 1954 in to Fred Stortz and Irene Josephine (Stortz) Pingel.
William and Rebecca Lynn Amberger were married September 3, 1988 at Lithium Baptist Church.
He worked as a welder.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Longtown and River Hills Antique Tractor Club. William enjoyed mowing, welding, watching wrestling and St. Louis Cardinal Baseball. He loved spending time with his family and supporting his daughter Heather with her musical talents.
Survivors include three sons, William Scott (Kala) Stortz, Jared Michael (Melissa) Stortz, Benjamin K.Yamnitz; four daughters, Amber Scarlett Joy Stortz, Heather Rebecca April Stortz, Jami Lynn (Eric) Tucker, Christine Janelle Stortz; two brothers, Ronnie Stortz, Bernard Stortz; three sisters, Margie Miller, Dorothy Miller, Zita Kramer; 13 grandchildren, Chlorissa Arrington, Miranda Phillips, Blake Stortz, Ryan Stortz, Parker Stortz, Micah Stortz, Luke Rigsby, Marissa Rigsby, Samantha Yamnitz, Benjamin C.Yamnitz, Maya Yamnitz, Alyson Stortz, Kylee Stortz, Chloe Evans; eight great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Edward Stortz, Sonny Stortz; two grandchildren, Cody Evans, Chase Evans.
Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. on Saturday, May 28, 2022 at Ford & Young Funeral Home in Perryville.
Funeral Service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 28, 2022 at Ford & Young Funeral Home in Perryville with Rev. Paul Winningham officiating.
Burial will be at the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Perryville.
