Candidates for two open positions on the Perry County School District 32 Board of Education for a three-year term are incumbent Dominic Blythe and Alexandia Lueders.
DOMINIC BLYTHE
Dominic Blythe, 48, was born in Perryville, and his wife is named Erin. He works at Jim’s Auto Service Center, where he is the owner or part-owner. Blythe currently serves on the PCSD 32 Board of Education and is seeking reelection.
In answer to why he considers himself the best candidate, what changes, if any, he would make if elected, and what the biggest need is he hopes to address if elected, Blythe said, “I want nothing more than to see our school succeed and flourish. I want to continue to fight for education and the best for our students, and continue the push for quality education and an increase in Pirate pride.”
ALEXANDRIA LUEDERS
Alexandria Lueders, 35, was born in Ste. Genevieve. She is a realtor with Ritter Real Estate and director of operations for the Perryville Chamber of Commerce. Lueders is seeking a seat on the PCSD 32 Board of Education. She made an unsuccessful run for the Perry County Health Board in 2021 and served in a non-elected position on the Planning and Zoning Commission as a member alternate.
In answer to why she considers herself the best candidate and what changes, if any, she plans to make if elected, Lueders said, “As a proud graduate of PCSD and a parent of both a current student and athlete within the district, I have continually sought opportunities to give back to the school that has had such a significant impact on my family and I. I'm deeply committed to being actively involved in my children's education and ensuring that their teachers and the school staff feel supported by both parents and the wider community. As an engaged member of the Perryville business community, I believe I am well-positioned to help strengthen and sustain existing relationships within the district.
“I believe in approaching new roles with a thoughtful and measured perspective, rather than assuming I know the best course of action before fully understanding the landscape. My priority would be to take the time to learn from my fellow board members, as well as the staff and teachers within the district. Additionally, I would focus on gaining a thorough understanding of the school's policies, needs, and performance data before proposing any changes.”
Asked what the biggest need is that she hopes to address if elected, Lueders said, If you had asked me this question a few weeks ago, my answer would have been different. Given the devastating impact of the tornado on March 14th, it's clear that getting our schools back up and running is our top priority. I've been in contact with school board members and staff to stay as informed as possible throughout the recovery process so I can make well-informed decisions in April. While recovery is the immediate challenge, I also want to continue focusing on improving test scores and attendance, as well as ensuring that our students, families, and faculty feel proud to be part of D32.”
