The Perryville girls run of dominance over the JCAA conference continues.
The Pirates got a big game from senior Kyla Schnurbusch as Perryville rolled to a 53-32 victory over Festus on Jan. 19. It was the second victory for Perryville over Festus, who secured the season sweep over the Tigers.
Schnurbusch scored 31 points, including four three-pointers, as she was the only player to score in double figures for the Pirates. Brooklyn Moll and Rachel Riney had six points apiece. The Pirates jumped out to a 14-3 lead after the first quarter as Schurbusnch accounted for 12 of those points.
Festus made just one shot in the first quarter, a jumper by Elizabeth Skaggs.
Festus shot 23 percent (12 for 51) for the game and shot 2 for 14 on three-pointers.

That was the way that the defense performed all night for Perryville, who held Festus leading scorer Josie Allen, who averages 16 points per game, to just five points Thursday.
Allen scored just four points against Perryville back on Dec. 15 in the teams’ previous meeting. (a 50-20 Pirate victory). Allen has scored in double figures in 13 of 16 games this season.
Festus was led by Ciara McDonald with 14 points.
The Pirates currently sit at 4-1 in the JCAA with the only loss to Hillsboro back on Dec. 12 (a 43-25 Hawk victory).
The Pirates are searching for their third consecutive conference title, however Hillsboro is 5-0, but the two teams will meet again Feb. 16. Until then Perryville (12-5) will face St. Vincent (15-2) in the annual Mayor’s Cup game at 5 p.m. at the Perry Park Center Saturday.
