Letter to the Editor: Expressing of our opinions

Posted

(Editor’s note: This letter appears in response to a letter appeared in the April 7, 2022 edition).
Ms. Maples,
I would like to address your letter to the editor on 4/7. The letters I have written ARE based on facts from the 4 forums I have attended. There are a few grammatical errors in my 3/31 letter and a whole bunch in my 4/7 letter, those were NOT mine!
I thought the letter to the editor was about expressing our opinions! We, in the USA, have right to speech. This is a disturbing subject to a lot of people. I am only listening to their concerns, also.
I did not say PCMH employees were FORCED to attend the meeting and sign the letter, I said they were TOLD to! Bill Bohnert did not accuse any of the employees to forcibly sign any letter. He only mentioned there were concerned employees calling him.
Yes, I want LOCAL Dr’s! I don’t think only local Doctors we have now, are on the elected board, or a commissioner, so they don’t make the decision. It is only their opinion, just like we have an opinion.
The Covid period, that isn’t over yet, we have VERY strictly followed all CDC guidelines. If EVERYBODY followed them it wouldn’t spread so rapidly.
I and others are NOT hypocrites. SE HEALTH is a corporation, a Missouri corporation, like PCMH. Mercy is an Oklahoma corporation. Do we want to be controlled by an out-of-state hospital? Or do we want to partner with a hospital less than 40 minutes away?

No I do NOT believe a Dr, or someone else can DIAGNOSE on a VIRTUAL visit. The majority of the time, you will be told to go to the ER, if they are SMART, and don’t want mis-diagnosis lawsuits.
I will repeat myself and say our hospital probably does need upgraded technology, but we also need better HEALTH CARE!
This issue has been discussed with NUMEROUS citizens. They ALL think Mercy is the wrong choice!
Technology is here, and here to stay, but let’s slowdown on VIRTUAL healthcare for a few years. We are talking LIFE or DEATH! Let’s let them get the bugs worked out first, before we succumb to this new technology.
Ms. Maples, are you a voter and resident of Perry County? NO ONE seems to know you! Are you a person? Or do you have a fictitious name?
