Letter to the Editor: Join the real world

To the Editor:
Upset Perryville residents have a recent obsession with writing letters to the editor which are not based in fact or reality. These letters are often full of grammatical errors, which shows their reliance on personal choices and feelings, rather than actually taking the time to study the issue and the facts.
Hospital employees forced to sign a letter of support for Mercy Health or forced to attend a meeting? A blatant lie, propagated by a wannabe hospital board member, yet completely disproved by those hospital workers themselves.
You want our healthcare to be local? You won’t even listen when our local doctors recommend an affiliation with Mercy Health. Many of you wouldn’t follow their recommendations over the last few years of COVID either. Either listen to them or stop complaining.

People have this blind fixation with big corporations. Perryville, Southeast Health is as much of a corporation as Mercy Health. Don’t be a hypocrite!
And yes, a doctor that has never seen you before, a complete stranger, can often diagnose your condition or prescribe treatment. It is because of the years of training he or she has completed. Technology is critical to medical care. Without improved technology, medical training and care wouldn’t improve. People don’t just get smarter without studying or training, which are reliant on technology. Technology means better survival rates and improved quality of life. Technology is a part of our lives, whether you want to accept it or not. Join the real world, this isn’t the 1800s anymore.
