James Edward Grindstaff, 83, of Perryville died Thursday, Oct. 21, 2021 at Mercy Hospital.
He was born March 4, 1938 in Perryville to James Theodore Grindstaff and Estella Mae Ruessler Grindstaff.
He and Carolyn Marie Christisen were married. She precedes him in death.
He then married Elizabeth “Betty” (Schindler) Grindstaff.
He was a carpenter and did bridge construction. He was a United States Army Veteran and member of the Carpenters Local Union #73 of St. Louis Missouri. He was a lifetime member of the AmVets Post #94 and he loved to go camping and travel on cruises.
Survivors include Son, Jamie Grindstaff of Perryville; Daughter, Dana (Troy) Ferrell of Jackson; Two Step-Sons, Todd Braun of Dexter, and Jeremy (Amanda) Kimmich of Jackson; 14 Grandchildren, Angela Mayfield, April Grindstaff, Sarah (Tyson) Zoellner, Brooke (Jacob Pohlman) Shekell, Trey (Ashley) Ferrell, Taylor (Autum James) Ferrell, MacKenzie Ferrell, Alyssa (Jonno) Engelking, Derek Kimmich, Payton Helfrink, Jai Helfrink, Ashley (Tony) Bertolini, Brittany Braun and Kelsey Braun; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Carolyn Christisen, a son, Michael Grindstaff; three sisters, Mary Lou Kennon, Anna Lee Kennon, and Edna Mae Manner.
Visitation will be Monday, October 25 from 4-8 p.m. and Tuesday, October 26 from 8-10 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Perryville.
Funeral Service will follow at 10 a.m. at the United Methodist Church with Rev. Kevin Baron officiating.
Burial will be at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Perryville.
Memorial contributions may be given to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
