Perry County has seen an uptick in COVID-19 cases within the past week. The county currently sits at a “high” COVID-19 community level as of Tuesday, July 26.
The Perry County Health Department posted on its Facebook page on July 20 that the county was upgraded to a “medium” risk as of July 20.
According to the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services website, Perry County has had 54 total cases within the last seven days, and 281.3 per 100,000 population within the last seven days.
Surrounding counties such as Cape Girardeau County and Ste. Genevieve County also sit at the high community rating, while Bollinger County is at a medium level.
Jefferson (526), St. Charles (929) and St. Louis (2,598) have the highest COVID-19 cases within the last seven days.

The CDC recommends
Wearing a well-fitting mask indoors in public, regardless of vaccination status (including in K-12 schools and other indoor community settings)
If you are immunocompromised or high risk for severe disease
Consider avoiding non-essential indoor activities in public where you could be exposed.
Maintain improved ventilation throughout indoor spaces when possible
To determine the COVID-19 community levels, the CDC looks at the combination of three metrics — new COVID-19 admissions per 100,000 population in the past 7 days, the percent of staffed inpatient beds occupied by COVID-19 patients, and total new COVID-19 cases per 100,000 population in the past 7 days — to determine the COVID-19 community level. New COVID-19 admissions and the percent of staffed inpatient beds occupied represent the current potential for strain on the health system. Data on new cases acts as an early warning indicator of potential increases in health system strain in the event of a COVID-19 surge.
