County climbs past 28 percent of ‘completing vaccination’

Perry County inched past 28 percent “completing vaccination” earlier this week. While this number lags behind the statewide percentage (40.3 percent) and nearby counties of Cape Girardeau, St. Francois and St. and Genevieve, it is ahead of Bollinger and Madison counties and ranks 53rd among Missouri’s 117 counties.
A reported 5,379 of 19,136 residents, or about 28.1 percent, have finished the COVID-19 vaccination process.
Cape Girardeau County, with 34.1 percent completing vaccination (26,918 residents fully vaccinated), is ahead of Perry County, Ste. Genevieve County (32.0 percent, 5,721 residents vaccinated) and St. Francois County (30.4 percent, 20,400 residents vaccinated). Lagging slightly behind Perry County are Madison (25.3 percent, 3,062 completing vaccination) and Bollinger (22.4 percent, 2,722 completing vaccination) counties.
The state’s seven-day COVID-19 doses administered tally for Perry County is at 143.

An estimated 46.3 percent of Missouri residents have initiated vaccination while another 40.3 percent have completed vaccination. In terms of the 18 and older population, there have been 56.9 percent to initiate vaccine and 49.9 percent completing vaccination.
A total of 45 Missouri counties are reporting a “completed vaccination” figure of 30 percent or higher. There are 14 counties below 20 percent in terms of “completed vaccination.”
In terms of active cases, Perry County has a reported 12 as of July 18. This was the same number of active cases as July 11, according to House. The county’s seven-day rolling average stands at 1.4.
There were 66 vaccinations administered at a July 20 event at the health department office. Perry County Health Department director Liz House said this was the most COVID-19 vaccines given in a single day since late April.
