Meyer, SV track excel at JCAA meet

There were plenty of great finishes for the St. Vincent and Perryville track teams at the Jefferson County Athletic Association Conference meet. However, no one athlete had a better meet than St. Vincent sophomore Reagan Meyer finished with two first place finishes and another second place at the meet April 24-25 at Hillsboro High School
Meyer finished first in the 400-meter dash with a time of 58.57 seconds, more than two seconds ahead of the next closest competitor. Meyer was the only person in the race to break the one-minute mark.
Meyer also finished first in the 800-meter run, narrowly defeating Festus’ Lucy Boyer by half of a second. Meyer finished the race with a time of 2:27.48. To round out her day, Meyer finished second in the one mile run with a time of 5:29.12, three seconds behind DeSoto’s Jailey Pigg.
Other first place finishes for St. Vincent include Sophie Verseman, who won the shot put with a distance of 8.6 meters. Sophia Taylor won the Triple Jump with a distance of 9.59 meters.

On the boys side for the Indians, Clayton Gremaud won the 400-meter dash with a time of 51.28 seconds, narrowly edging out Jefferson’s Brandon Burfors by .07 of a second.
For Perryville, they did not have any first place finishes for the meet, but there were still several good finishes.
Perryville junior Ellie Gerler finished second in the shot put with a distance of 34-4.25, narrowly missing out on the top spot by one foot. She also finished second in the discus. Katie Farrow finished second in the pole vault with a height of 9-6.25 feet. Eddyson Reeves of Herculaneum was first at 100 feet even.
Sophomore Ben Huber was third in the discus at a distance of 148-00 feet and the 4x800 team of Micah Brown, Porter Johnson, Bair Hopkins, and Kayd Lucky finished fourth with a time of 8:36.05.
Other results include: Jacob Schremp, who finished fourth in the javelin (142-9.75), sixth in the discus (142-3.0) and seventh in the shot put (43-4). Claire Otte finished sixth in the javelin as well (109-10.00) and seventh in the shot put (31.00). The girls 4x400 meter relay team finished third at 4:27.29
